Tim Near, President, received a Pride@Boeing award to recognize exceptional performance. He was able to help the team identify an aircraft performance problem as a software issue on a Friday, identify, design and test a solution, and successfully fly the aircraft the following Friday.

Tim Near - President & Consulting Engineer

In 2003 Tim founded Novus, an engineering services and product development firm. Since then he and his team have helped leading aerospace, vehicular, and industrial companies meet their toughest technology management and product design challenges.

Tim has over 30 years of experience in the design and development of products for energy, industrial, telecommunications and aerospace markets. He began his career as a product design engineer with General Electric and over a period of seven years was promoted to positions with increasing technical scope and leadership in GE's Gas Turbine, Industrial Electronics, and Motor Drives businesses. In 1985 Tim joined Reliance Electric (now a division of Rockwell/Allen Bradley) and served in technical leadership and engineering management positions with increasing responsibility, leading motor drive development programs and organizations in Switzerland and the United States. He joined Nordson Corporation in 1992 as Electrical Engineering Manager and was promoted to Director of Engineering. Tim has also been an engineering director for Acumentrics Corporation's fuel cell division and for Arris Corporation's (formerly Antec) HFC Broadband Network Powering Division.

Tim has a BSEE degree from Cornell University and an MSEE degree from RPI. He has also served as a volunteer developing wind energy and water well pumping systems for deployment in developing nations.

Diane Near - CEO

Diane was made the Chief Executive Officer of Novus Engineering & Applied Research in 2008. Her experience in managing large-scale community projects, along with a background in education, is utilized in managing Novus.

Melissa Near - Website Management

Melissa is a fourth year mechanical engineering student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She has experience with the CSS, HTML, MATLAB, Python and Jython coding languages.
